I was feeling a bit crafty today so, I thought I would make my dad his fathers day card. I just LOVE making these cards especially because the whole time I am making it I think about him. See my dad lives about 2200 miles away from me and I miss him soo much. I moved away from home a long time ago, and the one think I miss most about "home" is my dad! He is a simple guy and that is one of the things I love the most about him. He is the type of guy that could tell you everything you need to know without speaking a word. We would sit at the kitchen table for hours not really saying much ( my dads not a big talker) and yet I learned so much. Thank you dad for being you!

It is sad that in todays world you have to be filled with fear just by sending your children to school!

I am sure some of you, if not all have heard about the teacher arrested for giving her students Chloroform. Well, come to find out now she was making explosives in her classroom!!! WTF???? Why?

Oh, did I mention.... THIS IS THE SCHOOL MY SON ATTENDS!!!!!!!

Lets just say I am very very very very UPSET!

I have created a new blog..... I don't get much time to craft these days. I never knew living in the country was so much work.... and fun. I am always doing something around my house but lately it hasn't been crafting. Sadly :( I would love to share many things with you but for some reason I didn't really want to post it here. B-day Decor and Invite

So I have been a little lazy in posting this, but I am taking time for my crafting today. My Daughters B-day was in Feb.... So a month later isn't tooo bad! haha!
I made the invites to look like concert tickets , printing on both sides. These took a long time but I LOVE the end results! I had to do many many test prints. I am sure there is an easier way to do it but I am not aware of that! LOL Anywayz~ I love them and she loved them so it was well worth the time.

Then I made her "happy birthday" banner. I made it to match the invites! It was so cool looking I sooo did not want to take it down.
I have the disco ball svg if anyone wants it. Just dont have an account set up so you can DL from my blog. ( someday hehehe) Just shoot me an email and I will be glad to sent it to ya.

I made some purple stars to dress up the the shinny star garlin I got at the dollar store. I embossed them with the star folder and colored in all the black parts and also sanded the star to give it a 3d color look.

I am very pleased with this and had a blast making it. Enjoy!

Ok sooooo, I know I said I was back..... Well, I lied! LOL Sorry my faithful readers. Life has just gotten a little hectic. I swear I haven't had time for anything. The kids school events have bben in full swing and we have been "rearranging" a few things around here. I have redone my craft/ work area so hopefully I can get to it a little more often.
My wonderful , loving doggy Zoey decided to get doggy anxiety when we leave and had a field day in my craft area. I lost quiet a bit of stuff and was devastated. To say the least. It was one of those moments that you wished your pet could fully understand you. Other than sit, stay, good girl! LOL Ugh!

Anyway, I just wanted to give a quick post and let ya'll know I am still here......sorta!

Why isn't there ever enough hours in the day??

Here is my TO DO LIST for today ( ok well this week cuz I know I'll never get it all done today ~sigh~)

*20 min training session with dog

*make some coffee filter roses for my house for V~day

*make something to enter for the SVGCUTS.COM/forum Feb challenge

*Finish my daughters wall saying.

*make some cute decor for her newly painted room ( will post b4 and after pics later)

*Post b4 and after pics of all the painting I have been doing

*Post some pics of the birthday bannner I made for my daughters b~day party

*have another cup of coffee!!! hehehe

*ORGANIZE MY CRAFT ROOM

*Post a few things on my other blog ( calizcouponadventure.blogspot.com)

*figure out what to do with my ribbon

*paint my bathroom

*laundry ( ok this is an everyday thing with my monkeys hehehe)

*clip the rest of my coupons & organize them

*go crazy ( oh wait.... I think I have done that one LOL )

*start the process of cleaning up ALL the leaves from fall around my house. Now that it is some what decent outside. ( next week is more rain tho)

I have so much more to do than that ...... Like daily house cleaning duties and such but I wont bore you with that. I just had to post my to do list here so , well so I dont lose it!!! LOL

This is my entry for the Lettering Delights January Calender challenge. Phew.... I made it! I actually made something and got it in on time. (((( BEE! I did it! I got something creative done!! TY)))))

Hehe Sorry had to give a little shout out there! Bee over at dare2beecreative.blogspot.com let me know about this really cool site! They have everything! Fonts, graphics, svgs! Really great prices too!! So, anyway.... she tells em I better enter cuz my mojo has really been kinda eeh lately and she knew a good challenge would get me going! And she was RIGHT!! How cute is this!! I just love this! I have been making my own decor lately and I jsut thought this would be a cute decor for valentines day! I have nothing as far as decor goes for Valentines day so this little frame is exactly what I needed! I have all kinds of little ideas in my head now..... LOL However, I have a birthday party for my turning 12 year old daughter this weekend and I have to make decorations for that still! Yikes!! I need to get in gear!!!

I used some cute valentines paper that was so kindly sent to me by a sweet little Bee! I added some glitter to a couple of the hearts. I gave the calender some demention with pop dots, glued some ribbon across the front and clipped some svgs from LD free Monsters Love svg set!

The frame use to be a solid white but I took a nail file thingy ( those 4 sided foam ones) to it and distressed it!

I JUST LOVE IT!!!!

Welcome gift from ColorBok

I signed up for ColorBok awhile ago and they sent me a FREE welcome gift! YAY! I get so excited when I can get cheap or free crafty items! What is the Colorbok Bok Club? It’s a group of consumers (like me) who are active paper crafters & scrapbookers. From time to time we give them feedback on various topics related to papercrafting and other crafts including feedback on new products, designs and merchandising in exchange they offer tons of prizes and giveaways.

Over the weekend the UPS man showed up with a box. I couldn’t figure out what it was, I thought I know I have requested some samples but NO WAy they could of come that fast! I was surprised to see that it was my free gift for signing up with the Colorbok Bok Club. I am in love with this gorgeous 12x12 paper pack that they sent me. It’s called Truffle and it has the paper, stickers and punchouts. I am not sure where you can sign up to get your free gift but I am going to look into it. As son as I find the link I will post it. But it does pay to sign up for free stuff! Cuz sometimes you get really cool stuff!! Hmmm.... what to make with it now.......

Country Wreath

I have been "country~fying my photo frames and decorating my fireplace mantel. I made this "country wreath" to go with my frames.
For the wreath I used ;

I got this collection a while ago and haven't had a chance to use it. I embossed the houses and birds, gave'em a little ink and wa~la!
I used a free rose svg file from pennyduncancreations ( ty Penny)

I had some other little trinkets from my mom and SIL so I used those.

I just added things as I went and somethings worked and somethings didn't but over all I like how it turned out.
I also clipped some thin branches from the trees and put them in my vase I have had forever and just couldn't figure out what to put in it. I think this is perfect!!!! I also made a couple coffee filter roses ( coffee color) and add them to it as well!!! LOVE IT!

From boring To adorable!

Here is another frame I just had to add a little something too! I am just loving the ways these frames are coming out!!! I think I have a style going here with this twine stuff. I love that it gives it a kinda country feel. And since I live in the country .....hey! I gets it fits right in!!

Ok, so first of all I want to say Im a dummy!!! I didn't take before and after pictures.........ugh. But honestly I wasnt even trying when I made these. See my mojo has seriously failed me these last few months and I haven't done ANYTHING.....CRY!!! I didnt even make x~mas cards and I used reg'ol boring wrapping paper to wrap my gifts......gasp! I was even considering selling everything I own that had to to with crafting......(shreek) But I have since snapped out of it. ( I hope) lol I was at target the other day and I had a 10 gift card for there and so I picked up these dollar frames there (8x10) for my kids school pics i have been neglecting to put in frames. I had an old frame with no glass that I was just going to throw away. ( I had a pic in it but replaced it with shinny new glass included frame....haha) I set it on my craft table and next thing I knew I was dressing it up!!! I have never done this before and I LOVE it. I am hooked on this now and so I took another frame that has been collecting dust cuz the backing fell off and I never threw it away, and jazzed it up a bit as well and.....taaaa da!!! They are my favs now......I think my mojo is BACK!!!!!!! (sobs uncontrollably)

mini photo shoot

Here are a few photos I took about a month ago when all the leaves just began to fall. My hubby and son were off playing with thier goKarts and lexi (my daughter) Zoey ( my doggy ) and I did a mini phto shoot in the front yard. LOL She was looking super cute and IDK I just felt like taking a few pics. I really loved how they turned out. We are doing another one real soon. I just hope I can get my son in on this one this time. I swear I have to bribe him to do "girly" things like a photo shoot! I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Morning Sun & Zoey

I let my German Shepherd, Zoey out this morning and it was simply beautiful! Even she stopped for a min to appresheate the moment! I wished I had my better camera on hand, But all I had was my phone. At least I was able to capture the moment. I thought is was too pretty to keep to myself and decided to share with you!

Halloween star decor

I made a 5 point star out of 5 12x12 papers. Each star point is a piece of 12x12 card stock. 24 inch total in width ( I love stars and wated to make a nice big decor piece to go on my mantel.) I then cut a 10 inch circle out of the back piece of a paper pack. (You know the thin chipboard piece?) I used my hot glue gun and glued on the spanish moss to it. I used the haunted house, ghosts, skeletons, fence, spiders and the witch from the Spooky Silhouettes Collection over at svgcuts.com. One of the jack~O~ lanters is a svg freebie at svgcuts.com/blog and all the other elements I collected from differnet places. ( if anyone would like to know where I got any of the other ones I can track them down for you, I am trying to label the newest ones I have gotten from where I have gotten them from, but older ones....I haven't went back to re~do!) <<<----- thats a project for another day lol

I also used some really thin thin wire, ( my mom sent it to me so I can't say what kind, looks really old tho! LOL ) to put the witch, bats and ghosts "in flight". I also added some feathers for flare and inked everything I could. I had a bit of a challenge on this because a lot of things were black and I really needed to make things "pop". I had origanlly made the fence black but it blended to much so I made it a light gray and inked it black and pumpkin spice for a "rusty" look. I inked the moon and the glowing windows of the house. I really like the shading effect that it gave. everything that isn't black has a bit of inking on it. My pictures arn't that great. ( sorry)

Anyway~ I hope you like my entry and it inspires you to make some spook~tacular halloween decorations!!!!

My first ever diaper cake

Ok these are so stinking cute!!!! I can't beieve I was able to do it!! You know they look really hard but theie NOT!! LOL I made this for my sweet sister in law and gave it to her at her baby shower on Aug 7th. I am late in posting this I know....( lifes been a little busy!) She LOVED IT!! I am super glad too!! hehehe

Animal Letter Book

Over @ svgcuts.com/forum they had a challenge to make something using their cuddly animal set ( for sale @ svgcuts.com ) I decided to make a little book for my nieces for when they come to visit. I created all the little animals from the set and then cut the beginning letter of each animal behind them. I can use this as a great learning tool for them, learning their letters and animals. They are super cute and perfect for a childs book! I really loved how this turned out.

Boo Halloween pop up card

Ok So I went to a crop this weekend and though I didn't get much done...( too much talking and showing off scal and svgcuts.com lol) I was able to make a couple things. I put together this card and it was the talk of the night!

I used the boo word A2 pop up card from svgcuts.com, I used the ghost from the set plus a ghost, spider, haunted house from the Spooky Silhouettes Set also from svgcuts.com

I also used a spiderweb and bat svg I got from somewhere ( sorry i am horrible about keeping track where I get stuff )
I inked the ghosts with orange and black ink then added a red gem to the spider. ( black widow spiders )

On the front of the card I embossed it with some ghosts. I am not sure how well you can see it in the pic. I used the ghost from the boo pop up card to make this folder.

Making your own embossing folders

I came across a youtube video about making your own embossing folders. You can make them a number of different ways. I tried this one that im posting but I used a little bit different materials. I just used a plastic sleeve I had laying around. It is a little bit heavier than a pager protector but honestly you can use just about anything. I also found one that you don't need the 2 sided folder type. You can just use an image that is cut from chipboard or the thinner stuff we use. Cereal boxes or like what is used in this video which is the cover of your paper packs, ( you could even use cardstock just double or triple it to give it some thickness and then use a foam piece with it. Like an old mouse pad or something. It just needs something to smoosh into to emboss it. ( make sense?) just search " make your own embossing folders" in the search bar on youtube. A ton of them pop up. I was going to make a video but there are so many out there I figured it wasnt needed. I thought this was really cool and wanted to share. Its a great way to cordinate your embossing to you svg cuts on your projects.

Here is ONE of MANY videos on Youtube showing exactly how to do this. There are many different ways. I am going to try a few different ones and I'll let ya know which is my fav! So far this one is great!!!

My SIL just had her baby!!
James John Allred the 3rd!!!! Born 9/2/10 @ 8:32 pm To Mr. and Mrs. James and Jessica Allred 6lbs 2 oz 19 inch!!!!! Im sooo excited!

I live 3 hours away so I will be heading up to see them tomorrow after kids get out of school!

Sorry I was sitting here just now when I got the call so naturally I had to share!! Oh man I am so excited!! *tear!

Here are 3 Beach themed 12x12 pages I made recently. I have a friend that is opening a store and asked me to make some stuff to put in there to sell. Of course I said Yaaaaa!!! A chance to make a few bucks doing what I love? Is there any other answer but yes?!! lol So I been busy, busy, thinking of what I can make. I just got a new paper pack and it had some beachy papers in it, so thats where I started. I figured people are going to have summer pictures they are going to want to scrap. I am going to try and stay with the season but as you all know ( im sure) that doesnt always happen. Being very new to this I am unsure what I am going to charge. That is always the hardest part.....ugh! Anywayz......Here they are......

Ok so here goes nothing.....

This is a Cancer poem book I made for my mother in law. She is currently a 1-1/2 surviver of breast cancer. I wanted to do something special for her and give her something that would help lift her spirits whenever she was having a bad day. The poem is called;

What Cancer Cannot Do

Cancer is so limited...It cannot cripple love.It cannot shatter hope.It cannot corrode faith.It cannot destroy peace. It cannot kill friendship.It cannot suppress memories.It cannot silence courage. It cannot invade the Soul. It cannot steal eternal life.It cannot conquer the Spirit.
